A guitar for those who like to think outside the box…
This is a a very early (low serial number #74) Knaggs Kenai – Tier 2 guitar so a REAL hand made by Joe Knaggs beauty. Mr Joe Knaggs was production manager of the R&D and Private Stock departments at PRS Guitars…the “Knaggs era” PRS Private Stock guitars are ultra sought after, probably the most expensive and best built guitars of the modern era…
“After 25 years as production manager and designer with one of the most successful guitar brands of the modern era (PRS), Joe Knaggs decided to take his vision directly to the people.”
So this guitar is literally a hand made PRS Private Stock quality guitar without the PRS Private Stock price tag (currently £6K-£12K on the second hand market).
This beauty has a fantastic AAAAA graded flame maple top (this alone is worth a lot of money): the flames are ultra deep 3d quality ones (look at that area between the 2 pickups….mamma mia) and very well book matched!
The body is a one piece very light weight mahogany, neck is one piece mahogany and the fingerboard is top graded rosewood!
The inlays are absolutely mental: the pictures don’t do justice but I’ve seen so many guitars and the inlay work on the headstock and fretboard are crazy good…just compare this work to the brand that starts with letter G….they can’t even inlay their own logo properly to the headstock and the fretboard inlays are cheap acrylic plastics even on their £5K++ models…while this beauty has beautifully done real mother-of-pearl very unique inlays…I really respect this sort of things…
The pickups are Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups and the wiring is 50s Gibson style wiring…the guitar also has really good Treble Bleed installed…these all add up to the value of this unique package…
The tailpiece is another fantastic design, it really makes the sustain longer than on any of my guitars I’ve ever had and I’ve had many much more expensive ones too…
The guitar comes with a very high quality Knaggs leather strap and its hard case.
In the UK Peach Guitars sells these instruments new for around £7K…
It’s in nice, looked after condition, zero fret wear, zero big dings, dents or buckle marks. It has a few playing marks so I’d call its condition 9/10.
